If you need to update your address or phone number in DEERS, or have lost or stolen your CAC, don’t worry – you don’t need an appointment! Just visit the TriCare website and do the update yourself.
However, if you’ve received an error message that your CAC has been blocked or locked, or your PIN is invalid, you’ll need to go in for a walk-in service. Same-day appointments are given priority, so don’t worry if you can’t make an appointment in advance.
If your sponsor is deployed or on TDY and unable to accompany you, you can bring in a valid power of attorney along with two forms of identification. If you’re a dependent and your sponsor is on active duty, you’ll need to bring him or her along for this task.
If you’ve recently gotten married and want to add your spouse to DEERS, bring in your marriage certificate as well as an ID from each of you showing proof of age.
When enrolling your spouse, two forms of ID are also required. If you have a foreign-born spouse, bring in their passport along with both proof of marriage and birth certificates translated into English.
Thank you for your service! We hope the above has helped clear up any questions about DEERS you might have!
