Although Yuma Proving Ground does not have deployments, please
keep the following in mind:
Single service members or those traveling
without their family members: If you are married or have family
members, but are reporting unaccompanied, you must be able to provide the exact
location (address and phone number) of your family members. Before
you leave make sure that your family's ID cards are current or will not expire
while you are gone. Be sure that your vehicle is in good condition
and the registration and tags are up-to-date. You may want to
consider getting your spouse a power of attorney. Make sure that your
children understand that you are leaving is only temporary and don't forget to
write, especially on birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.
Issues/areas
you should consider before leaving for your assignment: You must be
able to tell Military Personnel Division how much leave you plan to take as soon
as possible after being notified of your reassignment. Prior to
departure be sure to obtain your 201 file, medical and dental records
too. If you are an NCO, you must have a completed NCOER prior to your
departure.
Transportation from the airport: If you will be
arriving in the Yuma area by air, be sure to let your sponsor know the date and
time of the arrival of your flight. If you arrive at the Yuma airport
and do not have someone to meet you, there is a phone on the wall in the baggage
claim area with phone numbers to YPG.
