When looking for a rental, look for a place that is well insulated.  Normally the local apartment complexes are not well insulated and electric bills can be quite high.  To help reduce that expense, try not to get an apartment on the top floor or facing the West end. Recommend you call the local electric company and find out what the average electric bill before renting.

If your plans are to move in to base housing when available, ensure that you get a military clause in your contract.  There are two kind of military clauses, one that allows you to break your contract if you receive PCS orders and if base housing comes available.  Read the contract before signing.

Home buying range from $50,000 to $200,000 plus.  It depends upon the place of the property, age and other factors.

Rental properties are hard to locate during the months of September through April, due to the winter visitor population.
