Wright-Patterson Medical Center is a Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations accredited 301 bed, multispecialty facility. It is designated the lead agent medical treatment facility for Tricare Region North.
Wright-Patterson Medical Center trains physicians in fully accredited medical education programs, including general surgery, psychiatry, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics and emergency medicine. It also has a free-standing internal medicine program. Through the only integrated residency program in the Air Force, students from the nearby Wright State School of Medicine, and the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences receive clinical training at Wright-Patterson Medical Center and six local civilian medical centers. Wright-Patterson Medical Center also trains general dentistry residents, clinical psychologists, nurse anesthetist, orthopedic and ENT physician assistants; clinical lab, radiology, cardiopulmonary and general medicine, hospital administrators, and hospital logisticians.
Through an aggregate volunteer program, over 90,000 hours are donated annually by personnel from six separate groups; the American Red Cross, Retiree Activities Program, Masonic Services Association, Twinbase Childbirth Educators, Chapel Volunteers and the Civilian Air Patrol.
The main complex is located in Area A, Bldg 830, with other areas as follows: Occupational Medicine, Bioenvironmental Engineering, Hearing Conservation Diagnostics Center, Urinalysis Testing Center, Area B, Bldg 103; Altitude Chamber, Area B, Bldg 103.
