External candidates can apply for civil service positions at Wright-Patterson Air Force base locally through the Civilian Personnel Office. Internal candidates apply through the Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC) at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.
Military spouse preference provides priority in the employment selection process for military spouses who are relocating as a result of their military spouse's PCS. Spouse employment preference is a preference for employment in DOD appropriated fund civilian positions, for which the military spouse is best qualified, at grade levels GS-15 and below (or equivalent wage system positions). Preference for NAF positions is at grades UA-8 and below (or equivalent grade levels). Depending on qualifications and experience, the spouse is afforded serious consideration for competitive civil service vacancies.
If the spouse has previous government work experience, preference can be exercised up to the highest grade level ever held. Spouses of active duty military personnel of the DoD with personal civil service status (i.e., current career or career-conditional employees, reinstatement eligible) should apply to the Civilian Personnel Office for available positions. If you are interested in civil service positions, contact the Civilian Personnel Office listed below.
