The 509th Medical Group is a comprehensive primary care clinic
providing outpatient-managed healthcare under the Tricare program for eligible
beneficiaries living in the Whiteman area. The clinic operates eight
primary care teams staffed by board-certified family practice physicians, flight
surgeons, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Offer
specialty service clinics for pediatrics, optometry and mental
health. Additional services available include immunizations,
laboratory, radiology, physical therapy and
pharmacy.
Unfortunately, we do not have an Emergency Room or
Acute Care Clinic. Emergencies are sent to Warrensburg, about 10
miles from the base. Ambulances are still available on
base. Active duty members are the first priority for
medical services, but family members are treated at our clinic on a reoccurring
basis. Retirees are seen when facilities and staffing permit, but
they must make appointments after 10:00 a.m. for same day visits.
Clinics
operate by appointments only and their hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday
through Friday unless otherwise indicated. A valid ID Card must be
presented for everyone 10 years old or older. Appointments are made
by calling the central appointment desk at 687-2188 (option 1) during normal
duty hours.
Emergency services are available by dialing 911 both on and
off base. If you reside on base, the base hospital's ambulance will
respond; if you live off base dialing 911 will give you a response
from the ambulance service which is closest to you.
Before family members
or retirees are admitted to a civilian hospital, or go for outpatient surgery,
please contact the TRICARE office. A non-availability statement may
be needed to be issued in order for TRICARE to pay for the in-patient stay or
outpatient surgery. If an admission is required, please contact the
TRICARE office the next duty day for a non-availability statement.
