Family Advocacy Program
The mission of the West Point Family Advocacy Program is to support Army Soldier readiness by enhancing family self-sufficiency, community cohesion, safety and personal preparedness.
The goal of the West Point Family Advocacy Program is to prevent family violence by providing a variety of services designed to strengthen Army families. To that end, various methods and media are used to present education based programs for Academy and Garrison personnel and their families. Family Advocacy also provides education services to activated Guard and Reserve Soldiers, and their eligible family members.
Family Advocacy provides:
? Wee Ones interactive play group for parents with children ages 0-3y/o
? Parenting classes (STEP and Common Sense Parenting)
? Couples communication classes
? Stress and anger management classes
? Conflict resolution for couples and families
? Deployment materials covering topics of children, adults and stress
? Lending Library for parents, child care professionals and adult learners
? Support for all ACS programs
? Briefings for Commanders and unit leadership
? Training for Child and Youth Service Division staff, medical/dental staff, Chaplains, MPs, and others
When family violence (child abuse/neglect, child sexual abuse, spouse abuse) is suspected or occurs, Social Work Services and Family Advocacy respond to ensure victim safety and to stop the violence
