There are a number of options on Post for Child care. There are

CHILD CARE:
The Outreach Services (OS) for Child
Development (phone 845-938-4458, DSN 688-4458) handles registration for all
Child Development services. If eligible for care, you may CALL ahead and request
to be placed on the Waiting List as soon as you are notified of your assignment
to West Point. Placement on the Waiting List does NOT guarantee care when
needed. Placement in a program depends on openings available at the time you
require care.
West Point's Child Development Services offers programs for
children ages 6 weeks (4 weeks in Family Child Care) to 12 years under these

*Children with SPECIAL NEEDS will be placed upon
recommendation of the Special Needs Resource Team, SNRT, as well as availability
of space.
An annual registration fee is approx $18 per child for the
first 2 children and provides a Child and Youth Card for SEAMLESS SERVICE. Your
family will then be entitled to enroll in the Child Development Center, CDS Part
Day Pre-School, Family Child Care (FCC), School Age Services (SAS) and Youth
Service programs.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Range of
rates: $3.50 per hour or monthly rates that depend on income. It is
advisable to establish placement on the waiting list for childcare before your
arrival. This can be done by submitting a waiting list application, requested
through the Outreach Services, OS. Family Child Care, FCC, is available in homes
of certified providers living at USMA. FCC providers offer full day, part-day
and hourly care. Rates are determined by parental/provider agreement. Patrons
must submit a Waiting List Application through OS to request
FCC. West Point School-Age Services, SAS, provides before and
after-school during the academic year. SAS for grades K-2 are located in the
Child Development Center with grades 3-5 in the Youth Services Center. Full-time
camp programs are available during vacation periods. Intermittent hourly service
is also provided on a space available basis. The computer lab and access to the
internet is available after participating in an orientation class with a parent.
Field trips, guest speakers, and MWR partnerships (i.e. bowling, swimming,
outdoor recreation) are all incorporated into the SAS program to deliver
programming in the areas of leisure and recreation, sports and fitness,
mentoring and support services, life skills and citizenship.

Enrollment for SAS is done through the Outreach Services office
in the CDC.

notified of your assignment to West Point. Contact OS for information on
placement on a waiting list for child care. Placement on the Waiting List does

REMEMBER THAT ALL CHILDREN MUST FIRST BE REGISTERED WITH
SUPPLEMENTAL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES BEFORE ANY CHILD CARE CAN BE
PROVIDED.
HOME-ALONE Policy:
Remember, children may be left alone at
eleven years of age for "reasonable periods of time" if they are in the fifth
grade or above. Children ages 12 and up may be left to watch younger siblings.
Children under five must be supervised at all times. NO CHILD MAY EVER BE LEFT
