Salisbury, Maryland, located 42 miles north of Wallops Island, is
the major metropolitan area on the Maryland lower Eastern Shore. It
contains several major chain department stores, three shopping centers/malls,
major chain supermarkets, theaters, restaurants, banks and specialty
stores.
Pocomoke, Maryland, located 14 miles north of Wallops Island,
provides a full service shopping area with a two large department stores, car
dealerships, two chain drug stores, supermarkets, banks and
restaurants.
Chincoteague, Virginia, located 7 miles east of Wallops
Island, provides local shopping consisting of dry goods stores, hardware stores,
a drug store, gift shops, banks and restaurants. Some of these
operate only during the summer tourist season.
Onley/Onancock, Virginia,
located 25 miles south of Wallops Island, provides small shopping centers, a
downtown shopping area, a department store, supermarket, banks, restaurants,
specialty shops and hardware stores.
