Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) provides recreational and dining activities and services to active duty, retired military and DoD civilians, active reservists, current and retired DoD civilian employees (Civil Service and Non-appropriated), active duty Coast Guard, family members in all of these categories, and USNA DoD contractors. Visit the MWR facilities and take advantage of the many activities and services offered.

MWR's Youth Programs provides a safe, supervised and structured environment at the Child Development Center for children six weeks to five years of age. The Center provides hot and cold U.S. Department of Agriculture approved breakfasts and lunches, as well as afternoon snacks.

Youth Programs offers special theme events, field trips, and a Summer Day Camp at the "Billy the Kid Youth Center" for children entering first grade through 12 years old. The Center also offers a place for children ages 11 to 18 to use computers with Internet capability, TV/VCR and Nintendo. Homework help and supplies for school projects are also available. Youth sports programs include T-ball and soccer leagues as well as basketball clinics to promote skills, fun, and sportsmanship. Dance classes and martial arts classes are also offered.

The Liberty Zone is an ideal place for relaxation and recreation! For single and unaccompanied active duty enlisted personnel (E1-E6), it offers a surround-sound theater, computers, video games, TV/lounging area, self-serve snack areas, kitchen facilities, pool tables, darts area, pay telephone lounge areas, trips, outdoor equipment rental, and much more.

Outdoor Swimming at the Annapolis Area Complex: Two outdoor swimming pools, North Severn Pool (on the Naval Station) and South Severn Pool (across from USNA Gate 8) are open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Swim lessons are available in two 2-week sessions. Family and single memberships are available at the pools or at the Recreational Services Bldg.#89 and keep costs low for frequent swimmers. Daily fees are available. Navy Youth may join the Jr. Swim Team for competition with area swim clubs. Interested in sailing - want to learn how? Why not? Annapolis is known as "the Sailing Capital of the World"!The MWR Carr Creek Marina offers a wide variety of recreational boating options and basic sailing lessons at affordable prices.

How about ice skating? During the winter months the Ice Rink at Dahlgren Hall, U.S. Naval Academy, is open and lots of fun! Call (410) 263-4527.

The Naval Academy Chapel offers Sunday/Church School program for children of all ages.

Don't miss the Fleet and Family Support Center's "Special Events" - there's our annual "Fun Day" in August...a day of fun with all the area commands that includes games, prizes, informational/educational booths, food, music, and more! In November we celebrate "Military Family Month" with pizza, a clown, and a special gathering of our area families. Also, in April we honor Military Children with special programs and in May military spouses are treated to a luncheon and certificates of appreciation (for all the hard work that they do!).
