Dental care for active duty is available through sick call for
acute cases. Exams and cleanings are available by
appointment. Military resources for dependent and retiree dental care
are extremely limited. For active duty dependents, enrollment in the
TRICARE Active Duty Family Members Dental Plan is strongly
encouraged. Enrollment is through sponsors' personnel
offices.
Emergency dental services are provided during normal working
hours for non-active duty patients who are currently receiving their regular
Dental care at Craik Clinic. After normal working hours, emergency
dental services are limited to first aid treatment to reduce pain and suffering,
or to take initial steps to prevent tooth loss due to trauma, then referral to
the nearest emergency room. The TRICARE Active Duty Family Members
Dental Plan pays 100% of the allowed charge for relief of severe dental
pain.
