Florida citizens voted to approve free, voluntary prekindergarten
for all 4-year-olds. The prekindergarten programs aim to provide
experiences that enhance the learning process and lay the foundation for
life-long learning.
While some prekindergarten programs have already
reached full enrollment or have waiting lists, a parent who wants more
information regarding a prekindergarten program should contact the neighborhood
public elementary school.
To be eligible for enrollment in a public
school a child must be 4-year-old on or before Sept. 1, and must meet the
eligibility criteria for a given program. Eligibility criteria are
available at each school with a prekindergarten program.
