Everything in Panama City is centrally located. There
are no major traffic problems; you can get almost anywhere in the local area by
car in approximately 30 mintues.
Several methods of transportation are
available in the Panama City area. Most do not reach Tyndall
AFB. Utilizing methods of community transportation can be time
consuming and costly over a period of time. It is recommended you
have your own means of transportation for easy access to Panama City and the
surrounding areas.
BAY COUNTY-PANAMA CITY INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT
Daily service to Atlanta is provided by US Air and
Delta. Commuter service is available to Atlanta, Memphis, Orlando,
and Tampa with service provided by Northwest, Atlantic Southeast, and US
Air. Military taxi and public transportation is not
available. Taxi fares to the base average $22.00.

AMTRAK
Amtrak's
"Sunset Limited" provides passenger train service from Chipley, Florida
(approximately 45 miles north of Panama City) going west to Los Angeles, east to
Jacksonville and south to Miami, Florida. The Chipley train station
is unmanned. For tickets and schedule, contact

TAXI
Private taxicab service is available through several
local services.
BAY TOWN TROLLEY
The Bay Town Trolley offers local
transportation service throughout Panama City. Although the trolley
reaches the outlying area surrounding the base, it does not provide service to
the base.
GREYHOUND BUS LINES
Four buses per day provide service
to and from Atlanta, Georgia. Connections are available through
Mobile, Alabama, and Tallahassee and Jacksonville, Florida.
