Tyndall AFB and the Panama City area have excellent medical and
dental facilities. Tyndall's military treatment facility provides
primary care for active duty military and their dependents. There is
no emergency room. The community boasts two hospitals; numerous
outpatient surgery centers; outpatient treatment centers; and rehabilitative
services. All emergency services are accessed by dialing
911.
TYNDALL MEDICAL TREATMENT FACILITY The mission of the 325th Medical
Group is to provide medical and dental care that enables all wing and associate
units to maximize wartime readiness and combat capability; conduct continuous
training to meet both peacetime and wartime commitments; provide or arrange top
quality care for all beneficiaries; and maintain a community-wide wellness
program to create an environment of healthy living.
The 325th Medical
Group was fully accredited in 1994 by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) which is composed of the American College of
Physicians, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association and the
American Hospital Association. The laboratory is accredited by the
College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood
Banks. Accreditation by these outstanding organizations means the
325th Medical Group meets or exceeds nationally developed standards which
measure excellence in patient care.
Priorities: Congressional budget
actions limit resources, resulting in the need to establish priorities for
services. Active duty members are the first priority of medical
services. They are entitled to receive complete and unqualified
treatment. Family members are the second priority and are entitled to
medical services, contingent upon the availability of space, facilities and the
capabilities of the medical staff.
Appointments: In order to provide the
most accessibility and timely health care possible, our outpatient clinics
operate on an appointment basis. Unless otherwise indicated, most
clinic appointments are made by calling 283-2778.
When accessing the
appointment system, please listen to the recorded messages for other pertinent
information regarding clinic hours, prescription refills,
etc. Cancellations may be made 24 hours a day by calling 283-2778 and
pressing the appropriate buttons.
Sick Call: Active duty
members with acute problems can be seen on a walk-in basis at sick call each
weekday morning (excluding holidays and down days) between 0715 and 0745 or by
calling Central Appointments at 283-2778 to schedule a same day
appointment.
Same Day Acute Appointments: Active duty or family members
can schedule a same-day acute appointment by calling 283-2778 any time after
730am and following the instructions on the phone message.
