Emergency Assistance
Emergencies happen without
warning. Please contact your unit 1st Sergeant or the Tyndall Command
Post at (850) 283-2155 for emergency Air Force Aid Assistance after normal duty
hours. AFAS can be contacted at the Family Support Center during normal duty
hours (0730-1630). There are many agencies and services that provide aid and
assistance.
The following agencies are available to provide
assistance:
AMERICAN RED CROSS: The American Red Cross is always
available for emergency aid anywhere you may be. Contact the nearest chapter
(phone numbers are usually listed in the white pages of the local phone
directory). They can sometimes help with emergency financial
assistance and contacting individuals that will need to know where you are and
what is happening. Tyndall's American Red Cross office can be reached
at (850)283-2770 (after duty hours at (850)784-4004), or the Command Post at
(850)283-2155, DSN 523-2155, 24 hours a day.
AIR FORCE AID SOCIETY: Air
Force Aid provides financial assistance in the form of no-interest loans or
grants to assist with emergencies. The Tyndall Air Force Aid Officer
can be contacted through the Family Support Center AT 283-4204 during duty hours
or after duty hours through the base Command Post at (850) 283-2155 or DSN
523-2155. Emergencies happen without warning. There are many agencies

The Air Force Aid Society
can provide emergency financial assistance based upon need, through no-interest
loans or grants. Categories of financial assistance include: basic
living expenses (food, shelter, utilities), medical not covered by TriCare,
dental not covered by Concordia, funeral expenses, emergency transportation,
essential car repairs, pay and allotment problems, disasters and assistance for
widows, mothers and children.
The American Red Cross provides assistance
for military personnel and their immediate families in times of
emergency. Quick communication with home about family crisis is
available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This includes verification
of death or serious illness, birth announcements to fathers deployed overseas,
and health and welfare reports resulting from loss of communication over an
extended period of time. The Red Cross no longer offers emergency
financial assistance in the form of interest free loans or

Tyndall's First
Sergeants' Association operates the base food locker for families in
need. Emergency financial assistance may also be
provided.
Catholic Charities is a nonprofit organization assisting
families in need of furniture and food. Services are based on income
level as well as emergency needs.
The base Chaplain is available to
provide spiritual guidance and comfort in emergency situations.
