Military members that are deploying or serving on an unaccompanied tour are required to out-process through the Family Readiness section at the Family Support Center.  They will receive counseling that is designed to ensure that they have taken measures to alleviate possible stressors on themselves as well as family members.  The counseling is designed to remind the military member to update their emergency contact data, plan for the payment of any bills, ensure their medical coverage has been established and/or maintained, consider legal issues, and to take care of any family matters prior to their departure. The counseling also includes explanation on programs such as Car Care Because We Care, Give Parents A Break, and Hearts Apart.  Married members as well as single parents will be placed on the Hearts Apart program which allows their family to place a free 15 minute call, 3 times a week directly to the military member from the comforts of their home.  Family members remaining in the local area will be contacted regularly via e-mail and telephone of upcoming events to ease the pressures that sometimes take place during family separations.
