Tyndall has a wide variety of events scheduled throughout the
year. Many are for the enjoyment of the whole family as well as the
single member.
With many nearby parks, beaches and lakes, there is a wide
range of outdoor activities such as fishing, golfing, and water
sports.
Our Services Division can meet all your entertainment, recreation
and child care needs - dining, sports, swimming, bowling, camping, tours,
crafts, equipment rental and loan, and library. Discounted tickets
for many off-base activities are available at the Information, Tickets &
Tours office in the Community Center.
ANNUAL INDIAN SUMMER SEAFOOD
FESTIVAL

The Seafood
Festival features the finest in fresh seafood served from over 45 food
booths. A wide variety of arts and crafts are available from nearly
100 vendors. Live entertainment is continuous. Past
performers include Sammy Kershaw, George Jones, Ray Stevens, Kris Kristopherson,
Louise Mandrell and others. The week's events also include a beauty
pageant, City Pier Fishing Tournament, and golf, softball and racquetball
tournaments.
ANNUAL GULF COAST TRIATHLON

This gruelling event tests individual endurance in swimming,
bicycling, and running. Nearly 800 amateur and professional athletes
from all over the U.S. and the world compete. This is an Ironman
World Championship qualifier that traverses much of Bay County, starting with a
1.2 mile swim in the Gulf of Mexico, followed by a 56 mile bicycle course that
circles St. Andrew and North Bays. The Triathlon ends with a 13.2
mile run around Panama City Beach.
PANAMA CITY BEACH FISHING
CLASSIC

Spearheaded by local tackle
shops, charter boat owners, and restaurateurs, the Classic offers cash and
prizes valued at more than one million dollars for the largest catch in a
variety of categories. King and Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Marlin
and Flounder are some of the 24 species of fish.
Rules and entry forms are
available from the Visitor's Information Center and sponsoring
restaurants. Money raised through entry fees and the sale of
promotional items goes to benefit local youth organizations.
NIKE-PANAMA
CITY BEACH GOLF CLASSIC

Sanctioned by the
PGA, this tour is dominated by young professionals. Other events and
activities include a Long Drive Contest, Shoot-Out Competition, Junior Clinic,
Pro-Am event and 54 holes of professional golf.
ANNUAL GULF COAST
OFFSHORE CLASSIC

Race week begins
with 2 days of hydroplane racing in Carl Grey Park and continues all week with a
Race Boat Parade, Race Boat Show, Radio-controlled Race Boats, the Inshore
Classic and major air show demonstrations. This event is sanctioned
by the American Power Boat Association/United Offshore Racing and is one of ten
held throughout the U.S.
Fund raising benefits United Cerebral
Palsy. Boating, camping, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving,
parasailing, jet skiing, windsurfing, sailing, swimming, wading in the surf, or
seashell collecting are but a few of the recreational opportunities available in
Panama City. In addition to water sports and activities, there's
plentiful shopping, a variety of restaurants and evening entertainment,
miniature golf, dinner cruises, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the
area.

WATER SPORTS AND FISHING
The Gulf of
Mexico and freshwater lakes surrounding Panama City offer superb challenges to
the angler. From delicious speckled trout to sport fish such as
tarpon and marlin, the saltwater variety is almost
unlimited. Rivers and lakes are home to the legendary largemouth bass
and catfish.
