Youth Services and Army Community Service provide sponsorship and
information for youth and families. The Army Community Service Employment
Readiness Program offers job search assistance to teens eligible to
work. There are many youth volunteer opportunities on the
installation through the America's Promise Program and there are several APF and
NAF summer positions open on the depot. Youth Services (YS) is cognizant of the
general development needs of military youth. YS is also aware of the
importance of needs within the context of the installation
environment. YS is committed to being a part of an interactive,
on-going process of assessing the needs of our youth. Our program is
constantly changing and growing as our community changes and
grows.
Eligible users include youth in grades K-12 who are family members
of Active Duty or retired military. Youth Services registration is
required for all programs. Cost is $15.00 per child not to exceed
$45.00 per family.
Open Recreation is available for Middle School youth,
Grades 6-8, and High School youth Monday-Friday, 1500-1700. This is a
time for homework, computer lab, or "free play." Youth participating
in the afternoon open recreation must be registered.
Special Events
include Youth Appreciation Dinner in April, Back to School Bash, Easter Egg
Hunt, plus lots more.
Leadership Activities: The youth are
encouraged to participate and assume leadership roles in their
programs. The Teen Council meets on a regular basis to plan
activities, provide community services and for special programs such as
workforce preparation. Our youth participate in Boys and Girls Club,
America's Promise and the Tobyhanna Army Depot Youth Sponsorship
Program.
Social events are offered throughout the year. These
are generally offered at cost. Events are planned for different age
groups as well as family events. Social programs include dances,
lock-ins, and holiday parties, trips to museums, sporting events, and amusement
parks. Your family just got their marching orders - PCS time! Now
what? Packing, moving, changing schools, saying good-bye to friends,
there are a hundred different things to take care of and to think
about. Check out the Military Teens on the Move Web site
