The Pocono Mountain West High School (grades 9-12) is located in
Pocono Summit, PA. This school offers a full compliment of core
curricular and elective courses for students in grades 9-12. Students
are required to complete a comprehensive research project to
graduate. 577 students graduated from the single Sr. High School in
2000 and 68% enrolled in a 4 or 2-year college or trade
school.
The Pocono Mountain School District is the public
school district that serves installation residents. There are over
11,100 students enrolled in the school district.
To register for school,
students need the following: current immunization records, school transcripts,
and proof of residency. Special needs students also supply a current
individualized education program (IEP), psychological evaluation, and medical
records, if applicable. New students take a placement
test.

2:35 P.M.

Report cards are issued
four times a year and are sent home every 45 days.

District-wide there is a 21 to 25
students per 1 faculty member ratio.
Students take the PA System of
School Assessment tests in Reading and Math in grades 5, 8 and 11 and Writing in
grades 6 and 9. PMSD saw gains in PASSA test scores in 16 of the 19
testing areas in 1999. More recent statistics are not yet
available. The Stanford Achievement Test is administered in the 7th
grade.
