After hiring more than 600 employees in 2004, Tobyhanna Army
Depot anticipates significant additional hiring to continue over the next twelve
months. The depot expects to fill positions in such skills and disciplines as
electronics, engineering, logistics management, production control, supply and
other career fields. Although all of these positions are not currently open,
announcements for these and other positions are posted and updated on a regular
basis.
The Department of the Army (DA) has mandated the use of RESUMIX,
an automated referral system that is being used to develop referrals for
vacancies filled through merit promotion procedures. The Army's
Resume Builder is the preferred tool to create and submit your
resume. Once your resume is on file, you will be able to
self-nominate for any job you are interested in with the click of a
button.
All personnel seeking employment should hand carry all
employment records and information, OF612, school transcripts, professional
licenses and certificates, and SF-50.
Those who are unable to secure
immediate employment are encouraged to volunteer their skills and talents with
one of the many installation agencies that utilize volunteers. A list
of volunteer agencies can be obtained from the Installation Volunteer
Coordinator at ACS.
Spouses are encouraged to contact the Employment
Readiness Program at the numbers below as soon as you receive your orders and as
soon as possible after your arrival. Call and make an appointment
with a counselor, who will assist you in developing and refining resumes and
interviewing skills, and direct you to job leads and
resources. Career counseling and professional development
opportunities are also available.
The Employment Readiness Program
provides information and referral service in the areas of employment, education
and volunteer opportunities. This is the Family Members link to public and
private sector, Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC), Non-appropriated Fund
(NAF), Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) and commissary employment
opportunities. Services are provided to active duty, retirees,
Reserve and National Guard, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian personnel and
all of their family members. Walk-ins and appointments are both
welcome.
Military Spouse Preference provides priority in the employment
selection process for military spouses who are relocating as a result of their
military spouse's PCS. Spouse preference does not apply to separation
or retirement moves. Spouses must be found best-qualified for the
position and may exercise preference no more than one time per permanent
relocation of the sponsor. Preference does not mean that positions
will be created or made available especially for military spouses or that
spouses will be given any special appointing authority. Preference
does not provide any guarantee of employment. Preference is limited to DoD
employment (appropriated and non-appropriated fund jobs, including installation
Exchange); it is not applicable to employment with other federal
agencies.
