The webpage for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare
(DPW) is an excellent resource for parents - it covers numerous parenting
topics.
The Child Protective Services Division investigates
reports of abuse and neglect of children. It also provides services to children
and families in their own homes; contracts with other agencies to provide
clients with specialized services; places children in foster care; provides
services to help youth in foster care make the transition to adulthood; and
places children in adoptive homes.
Any person who suspects that a child
is being abused should call ChildLine 1-800-932-0313, a toll-free number that is
staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by Pennsylvania's Department
of Public Welfare (DPW).
