TRAFFIC: Texas state traffic laws apply on Sheppard AFB when Federal or Military law does not override same. All vehicle occupants must wear safety belts regardless of when the vehicle was manufactured. Texas law requires children, newborn to 4 years of age or less than 36" in height, be restrained in an approved child car safety seat. Children 4 years of age and older must be restrained in either an approved safety seat or the vehicle's safety belt. All vehicles entering or leaving Sheppard AFB are subject to search.

BASE VEHICLE REGISTRATION: All privately-owned vehhicles must be registered on base the first duty day after the owner brings it onto the installation. Register vehicles weekdays from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at Pass and Registration. Registrants are required to show military I.D., valid driver's license, current proof of insurance, and state vehicle registration or duplicate title.
MOTORCYCLE REGISTRATION: Motorcycles are not registered on base until the operator completes course IVB, Experienced Rider Course, or can show documentation of completion of a Motorcycle Safety Foundation approved course. The MSF course includes hands-on training and evaluation.
WEAPONS REGULATIONS: Personnel residing in Sheppard housing must register all weapons immediately upon arrival or purchase, through the unit Command Support Staff. Proper storage will be determined based on address and the types of weapons owned. The armory is located in Bldg 558.
