One of the largest and most modern high schools in South Carolina
is Sumter High School. The only high school in District 17, Sumter High School
serves approximately 2,700 students. Sumter High's facilities are state of the
art. Its academic, choral, band and athletic programs are second to none in the
state. These outstanding programs have enabled the school to win numerous awards
including being selected as a National Blue Ribbon School of
Excellence.
District two has two high schools: Crestwood High School, a
new state-of-the-art facility,allow students an opportunity to take courses that
the previous schools were unable to offer and to take advantage of the computer
superhighway. Founded in 1996, Lakewood High School represents the
union of students from the former Hillcrest, Furman, and Mayewood High Schools
as well as Ebenezer Junior High School.
