Personnel arriving with an exceptional family
member should contact the Special Needs Identification Program (SNI), formerly
called the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), office upon
arrival. The office is co-located in the Tri-Care Building and
further information can be obtained with the Life Skills Support Center at
(919)722-1883.
The SNI is designed to provide assistance to
the children and adult dependents of eligible military
personnel. Dependents who are emotionally, physically, mentally
challenged are provided treatment under this program. These are
individual cases and should be referred to SNI so that all services and
education may be coordinated for the in-bound personnel. This
assistance may be in the line of counseling, special medical or educational
assistance, and financial assistance. This office also maintains a
respite care resource list; active-duty Air Force members with a special needs
family member may be eligible to receive funds for respite care from the Air
Force Aid Society - see the SNI office for details.
The Goldsboro
community offers numerous services for individuals with special
needs. Contact our Patient Administration and the Life Skills Support
Center for assistance with these programs.
