Goldsboro's unemployment rate is less than 4.7%.  Services claims the largest slice of the Goldsboro economy.  Trades are the second largest sector of employment, government is the third largest category, and manufacturing is the fourth largest sector.

Employment in the local area is oriented toward service, retail and office support.  Many employers prefer to hire military spouses because of their versatile skills.

The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) of the Family Support Center assists military members plan and prepare for employment after they separate from military service.  Pre-separation appointments, a 3-day TAP class, resume and interview classes, and access to computers/internet are offered.  Members may receive assistance with many aspects of the employment process - identifying interests and strengths, training/education/licensing needed for particular careers, job search, networking, etc.
