No matter how well you've planned, emergencies do happen.  The following are things you should do for help:

- First of all, look for the nearest military installation.  If there is no installation listed for the area, then we suggest you call AAA, if you are members, or ask the local information operator for a hospital or road service, depending on the emergency.

- Be sure to contact your sponsor or your unit orderly room/First Sergeant.  If you do not have a sponsor nor know the phone number for your squadron, call the Relocation Office at (919)722-1123 and they will coordinate with your gaining unit. If it is after duty hours, contact the Command Post at (919) 722-2679 or  DSN: 722-2679 and provide them with as much information as possible about the incident and your squadron.

- Be as prepared as you possibly can by making sure you have all your important papers with you (orders, ID cards, passports, power of attorney, resumes, transcripts, traveler's checks, etc) - Do not pack them in your household goods.

- The American Red Cross and the Air Force Aid Society are available for emergency aid.  Red Cross phone numbers are usually listed in the white pages of the local phone directory.  They can help with emergency financial assistance and contacting people that will need to know where you are and what's happening.

- The Air Force Aid Society can be reached by contacting a representative on any Air Force installation or any military installation. All the military services and the American Red Cross have reciprocal agreements with the Air Force Aid Society to help people in emergency situations.

-Always have some savings set aside for emergencies.

A number of agencies or people on base are available to assist you during emergencies.  Your First Sergeant, Commander, and individual orderly rooms will preferably be your first points of contact during an emergency.  Important helping agencies on Seymour Johnson during emergencies are the Air Force Aid Society Office and American Red Cross.  Both agencies are located in the Family Support Center.
