Goldsboro, Wayne County, and the surrounding areas are endowed with a number of events and festivities geared towards enhancing and enriching your stay.  These events, though subject to change, are held annually.  Check with the Chamber of Commerce of Wayne County at (919)734-2241 or the Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce at (919) 685-3113.

The Mount Olive community, approximately 20 miles from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and Goldsboro, North Carolina, celebrate a yearly Old-Fashioned Fourth of July with children's activities, food and fireworks, at Westbrook Park (919)658-3113.

The annual "Putting Up" Day, 5 August, at Charles B. Aycock Birthplace State Historic Site will show demonstrations of canning and fruit drying techniques.  Call (919)242-5581.

From 4 October - 29 November, costumed volunteers demonstrate domestic and farm chores on Wednesdays for the Living History Days at Charles B. Aycock Birthplace Historic Site.

From 13-22 October, the North Carolina State Fair is ran at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.  Call (919)733-2145.

The festive and beautiful Christmas Parade is held on 2 December in downtown Mount Olive.  Call (919) 685-3113.Goldsboro is perfectly located - the centerpiece of Wayne County, which is comprised of several communities.  Mount Olive is the second largest town and is known for its famed Mount Olive Pickles.  Fremont, located about 14 miles from Goldsboro, continues to attract newcomers, particularly young residents.

Within a day's drive of Seymour Johnson are the Blue Ridge and Great Smokie Mountains, the Outer banks and beaches on the Atlantic Ocean; Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia; Washington, D.C.; and Myrtle Beach and Charleston, South Carolina.
