to age 5, this site provides information on Macomb County services, activities,
resources, child care, health and parenting.
Children's
Resource Network Directory - Children's Resource Network of Macomb
Directory. Includes information on programming for four-year-olds,
MSRP, Headstart, and Before and After School Child Care.
Parenting
Awareness Michigan(PAM) celebrates people raising children and promotes year
around parenting education and resources. Michigan celebrates the
month of March as Parenting Awareness Month. PAM - unique to Michigan
- provides guidance, materials, resources, referrals, and technical
assistance. PAM directs its efforts to assisting local organizers
plan special parenting events, celebrations, and education opportunities in
March and throughout the year, and encourages a broader understanding and
acknowledgment of the importance of effective parenting.
L'ANSE
CREUSE PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
Offers a number of excellent EARLY CHILDHOOD
PROGRAMS tailored to suit both the needs of the parent and the child.
The
L'Anse Creuse Public Schools will pilot a full-time kindergarten program for the
2005-2006 school year. Full-time kindergarten programs will be available at two
locations, Marie C. Graham Elementary in Harrison Township, and Chesterfield
Elementary in Chesterfield. There is no cost to parents/guardians for the
full-time kindergarten.
L'Anse Creuse Public Schools offers a number of
excellent Tuition Based (Preschool) EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS tailored to suit
both the needs of the parent and the child. Call 586-493-5220 x1310 for

School Readiness - A free
preschool for four year olds whose families might not otherwise be able to send
them to school. Families qualify by meeting specific criteria. Call (586)

Head Start - A free
preschool program for three and four year old children from low-income families.
Call (586) 469-5215 for more information. Preschool Classes - Classes designed
for three and four year old children are held at the child care centers and
select elementary schools. Families register in the spring for the following
September for this tuition-based program.
Child Care - This
service is housed at both Child Care Centers and Carkenord Elementary. Children
three to five years old participate in planned learning activities, lunch, rest
and outdoor play. Centers are open from 6:30 a.m. to 6
p.m.
Kindergarten Extended Day - A child care program for the
half-day your child is not in school. Available at both child care centers in
classrooms designated for kindergarten only, this program, staff and activities
are geared toward the learning needs of kindergarten children. School-Age Child
Care (SACC) - Available before and after school at each elementary building.
Summer Day Camp - Held at two elementary schools to meet the child care needs of
working families. Day camp offers school-age children a variety of activities
and two field trips per week, as well as a trip to the district pools.
Registration begins in April.
Mount Clemens School
District:
The Mount Clemens ECP program serves children two to five years
old with impairments in one or more developmental areas. Most children qualify
as speech and language impaired, though children may have other
impairments.
This program is open to all Macomb County residents. Door to
door transportation is provided for Mount Clemens residents but not provided for
non-residents. The program runs only a half day with students attending either
the a.m. or p.m. session five days per week. There is one teacher and one
classroom aide assigned to a maximum of 16 students in each classroom. The
program also provides a parent component to assist parents with parenting skills
and assist them in advocating for their children.
The Mount Clemens ECP
program is working on accreditation through the National Association for the
Education of Young Children. For additional information contact the Preschool

Also offers the BeFour Program designed for four year olds
needing a preschool experience. Requirements; student must be a Mount Clemens
resident, and meet State guidelines for eligibility. Maximum class size is 16
students per class, with one teacher and one classroom aide. BeFour is a half
day program, five days a week and requires parental involvement. Breakfast and
lunch are available daily. Door to door bus transportation is provided.
