The DCFS strives to
protect children (under the age of 18 years) whose lives or health are seriously
jeopardized
because of abusive acts of negligence. The DCFS
supports the preservation familes.
Services provided are foster care,
adoptions, child protective services, juvenile justice, family support services
and family crisis intervention program. The Department's protective
service most often begin with a report of abuse or neglect made to the Child
Abuse Hotline. The hotline is located at the Department's States Central
Register in Springfiled IL
