A housing shortage and a population boom in the Pikes Peak region
has led Colorado Springs to join the ranks of comparable cities such as Austin,
Texas; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Tucson, Arizona - all of which are at or
above the national cost-of-living average.
Currently there is an over abundance of apartments
available. Apartment complexes are offering move-in specials and
lower rents. It is an apartment renters market. Rental
houses are limited and may be more difficult to find. The chart below
shows the average rental cost for an apartment or house.
