The "Devil Dog Kids Club" is probably your best bet for making contact with your first new friends in San Diego.

Remember that San Diego is a very big city, and you will find new friends in your new neighborhood and new school.

Getting involved in sports and clubs at school and through youth programs supported by your city offices will get you back into the swing of things with new friends and new activities. Teenagers looking for employment opportunities should visit the Career Resource Management Center at the Marine & Family Service Center.  The CRMC has job postings in many different fields, offering full-time and part-time positions.

You may wish to use the computers in the CRMC to write letters of introduction and update your resume.

The CRMC has an extensive employment resource library, and the staff will be pleased to assist you in your job search strategies.

Work-age children of service members are very welcome to visit the CRMC, Building 14, DSN 524-6780/5732/1283 or commercial 619 524-6780/5732/1283, for assistance in their pursuit of temporary and permanent position opportunities. There are no youth centers at MCRD, however, the "Devil Dog Kids Club" is probably your best bet for making contact with your first new friends in San Diego.

Most cities have wonderful programs all year long for all ages, community swimming pools, and swim programs.

Check out your closest golf course to see if they provide lessons and sponsor junior golfers.

There are sporting events galore, beaches, and employment opportunities so you can save for that FIRST CAR!


We Put Our Kids First!

Navy Region Southwest MWR Youth Programs Department operates eight housing area recreation centers and offers a wide variety of recreation programs for children ages three to seventeen. Some of these programs include open recreation, contract classes, field trips, teen programming, building rentals and special events, as well as the programs listed below. For additional information on any of these programs or services, contact your local Housing Area Recreation Center or call (619) 556-6165.

Before and After School Program - This program is designed to meet the needs of school-aged youth (five to twelve years) in the hours before and after school. Organized and supervised activities are planned and conducted at specific times before and after regular school hours.

Day Camp / Intercession - This program is offered for youth between the ages of five and twelve and is conducted during school holidays and summer vacation/intercession periods. Day camp activities include arts and crafts, sports, games, swimming, field trips, outdoor recreation, cultural programs and special events.

Tiny Tot Program - Tiny Tot classes are offered to children ages three to five years old. This part-time program provides an open environment where your child can participate in arts and crafts, music and rhythm, story time, social games, movement and much more.
