Rock Island Arsenal has trained Youth Sponsors to assist incoming
Youth. This program is designed for school-aged
youth. Sponsors are assigned by age/grade, gender and interests.

School Age Services/Youth Services Programs at the Rock
Island Arsenal are certified by the Department of Defense and accredited by the
National Afterschool Alliance (NAA). The programs offered include
before and after school, school outs, inclement weather, club events and summer
programs and are for ages 6-18 years. Active Duty Military, DOD
Civilians, and DOD Contractors are eligible to use the services. The
hours of operation vary depending on the program offered and the time of
year. Open Recreation is offered every Friday and one Saturday per
month. Fees for programs are based on DOD Guidance and are on a
sliding fee scale based on total family income. Programs are
affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club and 4-H. Military dependants who reside
on the installation have the option of enrolling their children in the Moline IL
school district. The installation provides transportation to and from
school through a local bus company at no cost to military
families. Rock Island Arsenal does not have a Department of Defense
Dependent School located on the installation.
