Rock Island Arsenal is considered part of the state of
Illinois. Person's who are living on post can register their vehicles
with the Illinois Secretary of State's Office located at 4124 11th Street Rock
Island. Those who choose to live in the Iowa side of the Quad Cities
area can register their vehicles with the Scott County Court House located at
416 W. 4th Street in Davenport.
Both Illinois and Iowa have
seatbelt laws. You WILL be ticketed for not wearing your seatbelt in
either state.
Child Restraint laws vary from state to state, but are
required in both Iowa and Illinois. As of September 2004 any child
under 80 lbs or 8 years old is required to be in a carseat or booster seat in
the State of Illinois. In Iowa, the requirements remain for children
under 60 pounds or 6 years old remain in carseats or booster
seats. Contact your local DOT office for specific details, or stop by
Army Community Service for questions, or assistance with your Child Restraint
system.
