LOCATION -- Robins AFB is located in Middle Georgia, 100 miles south of Atlanta and 16 miles south of Macon.

HISTORY - 26 April 1943, the new Army Air Force facility in honor of its namesake, Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins, one of the Army Air Corps' first General Staff Officers and commander of the Fairfield Air Intermediate Depot (FAID), Ohio from 1921 to 1928, Deputy Commander of the Materiel Division, Wright Field, Ohio, from 1931 to 1933 and Commander from 1935 to 1939.  Its designation finally changed to its present form in April 1974 when its new world-wide responsibilities led it to be renamed the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC).  For a thorough history of Robins AFB, visit the Robins AFB home page.

MISSION -- Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, the host unit at Robins Air Force Base along with the Air Force Reserve Command, 93rd Air Control Wing, 19th Air Refueling Group, 5th Combat Communications Group, 116th Air Control Wing, and more than 60 other organizations contribute affordable combat superiority, readiness, and sustainability to the Air Force war fighting team.  To find a complete listing of units refer to Major Unit Listings.

POPULATION SERVED -- Robins Air Force Base is the largest industrial complex in Georgia.  It is situated on 8,722 acres and contains more than 14 million square feet of facilities.  Employs more than 20,000 contractors, military members, and DoD civilian service workers.  Warner Robins ALC has worldwide management responsibility for the repair, modification, and overhaul of the F-15 Eagle, the C-130 Hercules, the C-141 Starlifter, the C-5 Galaxy, and all Air Force helicopters.

The center also provides logistical support for all Air Force missiles, vehicles, general purpose computers, avionics, and electronic systems for most aircraft.  The center also provides logistical support for the C-17 Globemaster III.  In addition, Warner Robins ALC has worldwide management and engineering responsibility for the U-2 Dragon Lady.

Robins Air Force Base military organizations and their community partners make up Team Robins Plus -- a team delivering the Air Force core competencies of air and space superiority, global attack, rapid global mobility, precision engagement, information superiority, and agile combat support.  

SPONSORSHIP -- Once your gaining organization has recieved confirmation of your PCS, military and DoD civilians will be assigned a sponsor.  Your sponsor should provide you with information about the local community, including housing, schools, employment, etc., the base, and any other information you request.  Your sponsor should also provide you with information about your gaining organization, including the name of your First Sergeant and Commander.  Keep your sponsor informed during your PCS.  If your arrival plans change, be sure to contact your sponsor.  Your sponsor will be responsible for welcoming you to the base and your organization.  You will be given information about In-Processing from you Orderly Room.    

Reporting in Procedures:  Military members entering Gate 2, open 24 hours a day, will be directed to the INTRO Office, during duty hours, in Building 905; or to the 24-hour arrival point in Building 557, the Billeting Office.  The first full duty day after arrival, your sponsor should take you to your unit's orderly room.  The orderly room will contact the base INTRO Office to schedule an appointment for in-processing.  Bring all hand carried records with you for in-processing.

Civilians being assigned to Robins AFB should follow the same procedures as military members but during duty hours report to the Employment Office in Building 1524, behind the Museum.  For information, call the employment office at DSN 468-5711 or commercial (478) 926-5711.

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE -- Newcomer's Briefing:  The Newcomer's Briefing is held on the first Wednesday of each month, 0800-1200, at the Enlisted Club.  Family members are encouraged to attend.

Loan Closet:  After you ship your household goods, or while waiting for them to arrive once you're here, you may need household items such as cookware, dish packs, iron and board, linens, TV/VCR combo, baby items and much more.  Stop in Bldg 794, Monday-Friday, 0730-1630, to see what is available to you during your move.  For more information call DSN 468-1256 or commercial (478) 926-1256.

CRITICAL ISTALLATION INFORMATION - There are three (3) different telephone prefixes at Robins AFB - 926 (DSN 468); 327 (DSN 497); and 222 (DSN 472).

Schools:  Located on the Robins AFB installation is Robins Elementary School.

Pets:  Pets are not allowed in Robins AFB Lodging.
