The 78th Medical Group does not have emergency services/emergency room.  Ambulance service is provided by Houston County Medical Center from 0700-1800, Monday-Friday, from their on-base location at the 78th Medical Group.  All other times they respond from off-base.  In either case, dial 911 for ambulance response.  In an effort to support and advise you about medical care the following is provided to assist you:

Emergency Medical Situations:

- Call 911 for an ambulance or go to the nearest emergency room/department.

- If you call 911 and you live on-base, Robins Clinic Ambulance Service will transport you to a civilian emergency room/department - during administrative hours, weekends/holidays or after 1800, Houston Medical Center will transport.

- Once you arrive in the emergency room/department, show your TRICARE Card/Military ID.

- Notify Primary Care Manager within 24 hours of visit.

- Between 0730-1630, Monday-Friday, call (478) 327-8340 or DSN 497-8340.  Central Appointments will transfer you to the appropriate clinic which the patient is assigned for approval.

- All other hours, call (478) 327-7850.

Examples of Medical Emergencies

- Allergic Emergency:  difficulty breathing, hives all over due to insect sting, medication, food allergy, etc.

- Respiratory Emergency:  difficulty breathing, wheezing, asthma attack, croup, choking.

- Cardiovascular Emergency:  Very fast heart rate, or slow rate with symptoms of lightheadedness, weakness, or shortness of breath.

- Diabetic Emergency:  marked by elevated or very low blood sugar, uncontrolled nausea and vomiting.

- Drug Overdose or Poisoning:  Call Poison Control at 1-800-442-4112 for directions before emergency room care.

- Trauma:  Any head injury causing loss of consciousness, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, altered mental status or multiple trauma to different parts of the body, for example:  a fall, motor vehicle accident, burns or deep cuts that require sutures.

- Seizures

- Fever of 100.5 or greater in a child less than two (2) months of age:  child with fever with altered mental status and progressing rash needs immediate evaluation.

- Uncontrollable Bleeding Dental Emergencies:  traumatic injuries, uncontrollable bleeding, facial swelling (worsening dental infection), severe pain uncontrolled by medication.

Routine/Urgent Care

- Contact your Primary Care Manager (PCM) at (478) 327-7850.

- For appointments, call (478) 327-7850.  Hours of operation:  Monday-Friday 0700-1600.  Saturday 0730-1200 (ACUTE illness/injury only).

- No clinic hours available:  Sunday's and Federal Holidays.

- To contact a primary care manager for acute problems after duty hours, on weekends/holidays, call (478) 327-7850.  An answering service will contact the provider on call.

- While out of the area, you may contact your PCM by calling 1-800-537-2137.
