COMMENTS:

The BOSS program works to improve the quality of life for single soldiers by providing communication between the chain of command, installation services, and the single soldier.  Membership is open to all single soldiers.

NAME:        Enlisted Spouses' Club

COMMENTS:

This club is composed to all spouses and soldiers E-1s through E-9s of active duty, retired, or deceased military. The club sponsors such events as Solider and NCO of the Month, Quarter, and Year programs, Christmas Charities, Red Cross Angel Tree, Space Camp essay scholarships and scholarships for enlisted family members as well as other activities.

NAME:       Officers' and Civilians' Wives' Club (OCWC)

COMMENTS:

The OCWC is composed of wives or adult family members (over 18) of active duty, retired, or deceased officers, female officers, and wives of civilian personnel who are GS-09 equivalent or higher.  Members do not have to join the Officers' Club.  Membership may be obtained at any OCWC function.  Monthly brunch/luncheons are scheduled the 2d Tuesday of each month.

On post clubs and organizations such as the Association for the United States Army (AUSA), Noncommissioned Officers' Association (NCOA), Redstone Arsenal Model Railroad Association, computer club, gardening club, Toastmasters' Club, hunting and fishing associations, change leadership on a regular basis.  For the latest information, contact the Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation Division, Directorate of Community and Family Activities, at 876-2073.

Recreational activities covering everything from Airplanes to Zoology are available in the Huntsville area.  Information on community service, civic, and recreational organizations in the area is available through the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County by stopping at their office at 225 Church Street or by calling (256) 535-2000.

Redstone Arsenal's Bicentennial Chapel offers Protestant and Catholic services.  Youth groups, choir, adult Bible study and other religious activities bind church members together as a congregation and part of the Redstone community.

Providing Catholic and Protestant services to the military and retiree community.  Active programs for children, youth, and adults.  Classes in religious instruction, fellowship events, and vacation Bible School.  Call for worship schedule and more details.

Huntsville has more than 400 churches, temples, synagogues and mosques.  Many churches are associated with denominations while others are independent of any group.  Many religious organizations work closely with the different faith groups.   Rather than offend anyone by leaving out their congregation, a list of denomination headquarters is provided.  Many independent congregations may not be listed.  For those not listed, check with the Interfaith Mission Service at 536-2401. The Interfaith Mission Service has 56 member congregations and provides numerous services such as food pantries and other assistance for both emergency and non-emergency situations.  The IMS works with about 36 local congregations throughout Huntsville and Madison County which have food pantries.

Available to resolve any difficulty that may be experienced by patrons using Morale, Welfare and Recreation facilities.  The MWR programs include child care services, restaurants, bowling, arts and crafts, automotive skills center, wellness center and outdoor recreation.  MWR also sponsors special activities such as Octoberfest and Spring Fest.  For more information about upcoming events, contact the MWR Marketing Office at 876-3030.  Check out the MWR website, the website is located in the above right hand corner.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The recreational flying facility offers introductory and advanced pilot training and aircraft rental.  Safe, low-cost, light aircraft flying opportunities, equipment and related services are provided at a minimal fee.  The RAFA will help you develop skills in aeronautics and provide you with information on aviation requirements, safety, and techniques and help you have a great time in the process.  The RAFA also offers FAA and FCC testing facilities.

Hours of operation are 1:30-10 p.m., Weds-Fri; 9 a.m.- 10 p.m., Sat-Sun, closed on Mon-Tues.  This is a complete hands-on automotive facility where you fix it yourself and save big $$.  A skilled staff will asssist you in your automotive maintenance needs from oil changing to complete auto body restoration, and more.  You can learn important skills while saving money and know the job is done right.  A multi-bay shop, tools and advice for the car mechanic are available.
Also offering a 24-hour car wash facility on Vincent Drive next to the PX Shoppette.

 

NAME:               Redstone Lanes Bowling Center

Hours of operation are 5-9 p.m., Mon; 10:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Tues-Fri; noon-10:30 p.m., Sat; and 2-9 p.m., Sun.  This state of the art bowling center has 32 synthetic lanes, automatic scorers, a snack bar, a private party addition, and a nice game room.  Leagues available for all ages.  Great lunches and "Betty Burger" lunch deals served Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Hours of operation are 1:30-8:00 p.m. Tues-Fri; 10 a.m.-4 pm.., Sat, Sun and holidays except for Christmas and New Year's.  Federal employees, active duty and retired military and family members may purchase reduced rate tickets for area attractions and events purchased at the Recreation Center.  Cruise reservations are available. Military customers can enjoy the center's pool tables, music rooms, computer rooms, an outdoor basketball court, television,and other leisure activities.

Hours of operation are seasonal.  Call for current hours.  The twenty-seven hole golf course offers a challenging, scenic, and beautifully landscaped course.  Excellent driving range with practice greens for putting, chipping, pitching, and sand play.  Pro shop, clubhouse, and snack bar operating for your convenience.

The post library has about 38,000 volumes of fiction, non-fiction, reference books, and a large selection of periodicals and newspapers.  Library offers internet access computers, audio books, DVD's and a children's collection.

Administrative hours are from 9 a.m.-5 pm., Mon-Fri.  Bingo hours are from 6:45-9:45 p.m., Wed-Sat and from 1:45-5:30 p.m., Sun.  The program boasts a 12k and two 10k pay-outs.  Just bring your military ID or civilian work badge to play.  Facility includes a snack bar and beverages are available.

Hours of operation are 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. 7 days a week.  Boats and camping equipment can be checked out for a nominal fee at Bldg 5129.  Registering to hunt on Redstone Arsenal and hunting and fishing licenses can be obtained at Bldg 5132.  Outdoor Recreation operates fishing, hunting, camping, boat & RV storage, three summer-operated swimming pools, trap/skeet, archery and rental items such as bass boats, campers, and fishing and camping equipment.

Hours of operation are 5 a.m-10 p.m. Mon-Fri; 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday; and 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Holidays.  The gym has a complete line of fitness equipment for all your fitness needs including Nautilus and Universal equipment, free weights, steam room, sauna, racquetball courts, basketball courts and aerobic classes.

Hours of operation are 1:30-9:30 p.m., Tues-Wed; 5-9:30 p.m., Thurs; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Fri-Sat; and closed Sun-Mon The multi-craft shop provides instruction, equipment, and supplies for the hobbyist interested in stained glass, painting, ceramics, woodworking, engraving, matting and framing.  Specialty classes are held often, including holiday crafts and basket weaving.

Hours of operation are 5 a.m.-7 p.m., Mon-Fri.  This fitness center is open to military and civilian.  Orientation classes are required for membership and are given every Tuesday and Thursday.  Fitness equipment and classes are designed to suit all fitness levels, whether you want to tone, trim, or bodybuild.  Treadmills, stairclimbers, Nordic Tracs and other equipment is available for usage.

Hours of operation are 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m., Tues-Sat.  The 200 acres of riding and pasture land can be used when your privately owned mount is boarded at the stables.  Tack rooms are attached and shoeing and veterinary service are available at additional costs.

Hours of operation are 1-9 p.m., Mon-Sat.  Activities, programs, and services at the Youth Center promote social, personal, educational, and recreational skills for military family members ages 6-19.  Some programs are open to civilian family members.  Batting cages located near facility.

Hours of operation are business office, Cashier available from 8 a.m.-4 p.m..  Business office open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tues-Fri; Closed on Sun-Mon; Dining facilities closed on Mon.  The restaurant offers a cozy, yet elegant dining facility for lunch, dinner, or private or business functions.  Evening dinner is for members only.  Lunch is served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tues-Fri.  The restaurant has a lounge, ballroom, and main dining area.  TDY and guest house residents are welcome to use the Club.

Hudson Recreation Area, the stone lodge has a spectacular view overlooking the Tennessee River.  The cozy lodge is perfect for receptions and parties for all occasions.  Chairs, tables, and working areas are available for use at no additional cost.  The lodge features bathrooms, fireplace, a full kitchen with stove, refrigerator, ice machine and microwave.
