Randolph has a total of 1,019 family housing units.  All units are equipped with stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washer/dryer connections and storage rooms.  There is usually a waiting list for all housing, so expect to live off base from four to thirty-six months.  This is also based on the time of year you arrive and your rank, which could cause your wait to be longer or shorter.

All family housing is adequate with two, three, or four bedroom apartments, town homes, duplexes and single-family homes.  Dorms are available for single enlisted personnel and a student Navigator's dorm for singles when space is available.  Single E-4s and below are expected to reside in the dorm. If dorms are fully occupied, some personnel will be authorized to reside off base.

Before military members seek off base housing, it is to their advantage to check in with base housing.  Even if you have acquired the services of a realtor, you should receive an off base briefing and ask questions if you think you need some answers before signing a lease or closing on a house.

ADVANCE HOUSING APPLICATIONS:
Military personnel, with dependents, are authorized to apply for base housing through your current housing office.  The DD Form 1746, Application for Assignment to Housing should be submitted with two copies of your PCS orders to your current housing office and will be forwarded to your gaining installation housing office.  The effective date of advance application is the first day of the month prior to the month in which the applicant arrives at the gaining installation. If the member arrives at the gaining installation prior to the stated arrival month, the member has the option of retaining the original effective date of application or assuming the  "walk-in date".

PRIORITY ASSIGNMENT TO BASE HOUSING:
Priority assignment to on-base housing must be for either medical or financial hardship reasons and must be supported by the appropriate base agencies; i.e., Family Support Center, Clinic, Family Advocacy and Support Group Commander.

NOTE:
The average waiting time for obtaining priority assignment to on-base housing is 2-5 months. Vacancies are available for 2 and 3 bedroom quarters if there is no preference of area required.
