Federal government employment exists in the form of DoD Civilian
and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) jobs that can be accessed on-line (for website
see Contacts/Links on this page). The Air Force Personnel Center
(AFPC) provides information on available civilian hobs, employee benefits,
application procedures and more.
Current DoD civilians may apply for
internal positions listed on the AFPC website. DEU positions listed
on the AFPC site are open for all applicants seeking federal
employment. NAF positions are open to all applicants and are usually
service-type positions.
Military spouse preference can also assist
spouses who have left their current job to relocate as a result of their
military spouses' PCS move.
Unemployment compensation may be
available for the spouse of a newly assigned military member or civilian
employee. State laws determine who can receive these
payments. Most states require at least 12 months employment in the
last 18 months. Texas is one of the states that partially restricts
unemployment compensation to spouses relocating with a family member who is the
primary wage earner. If you move to Randolph AFB from another place
in Texas, your spouse may be denied unemployment compensation for a period of
6-25 weeks. More information about employment compensation, both
inter-state and in Texas, is available from the Texas Workforce Commission, 210)
258-6600.
