Special Education Services at New
York/Virginia Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools
(NY/VA DDESS) @ MCB Quantico include referral, evaluation,
eligibility, development of an Individualized Education Program
(IEP), if appropriate, placement, annual review, and a three-year
re-evaluation. These services are provided to all eligible students
enrolled in the base schools at no cost to their families and are directed by

Special education services at MCB Quantico are
provided to eligible students from the age of three until graduation, or, if
required, through the age of twenty-one. Students are served in
accordance with their IEPs which is the document developed by the parent and the
other members of the Case Study Committee (CSC) that outlines the services the
school will use to address your child's goals and instructional
needs. The base schools at MCB Quantico provide a full continuum of
services in the Least Restrictive Environment within inclusive general education
settings as well as resource room settings.
Throughout the
year, the base schools conduct Child Find (CF) activities. CF in the
schools is a program that actively seeks to locate children, ages three through
twenty-one, who may have developmental delays or disabilities and may need
special education and/or related services. Related services may
include speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or
counseling.
