Service members can apply for housing prior to arriving by
mailing or faxing a DD 1746 (Housing Application) along with detachment or web
orders. Your detachment date is what becomes the control date on the
wait list. The service member can obtain the DD 1746 from any housing
office. To check your status on the wait list or the average cost of
living or wait times go to Marine Corps Base listed below in the contact/links
section. Click on MCBQ Activities, click G-5, then click on Family
Housing and visit the different links from the wait times based on rank and
number of dependents. Click on wait list to see what number you are
on the wait list. Click on average cost of living to give you an idea
the average cost of renting or purchasing out in the
community.
The status on the wait
times can change weekly. We encourage the service member to call the
housing office before detaching from current duty station.
If, based on
your rank and bedroom size the wait for privatized housing is long, you can
utilize the Housing Referral Services provided. They will assist you
with rentals and sales for townhouses, homes and/or rentals of
apartments.
Marine Corps Base Quantico housing became privatized on 01
Oct 03. Quantico no longer has a mobile home
park. Routinely there aren't any mobile home parks in the surrounding
community with spaces available. Construction of new homes is on
going and is scheduled for completion in February 2008.
