Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Marine and Family Services
provide education and counseling services and workshops to individuals and
families seeking self improvement. We recognize that military life
presents unique challenges to families and therefore work together with other
military services, as well as community organizations and services to strengthen
Marine families and provide appropriate referral services when
needed.
Family Advocacy Program and Clinical Counseling Services are
important componenets of MCCS, Marine and Family Services. These programs have
highly-qualified, clinical staff, who are trained in family violence and are
available to make assessments and recommend appropriate services and/or
treatment. The Family Advocacy Program provides services to troops and family
members experiencing domestic violence and child abuse through prevention
efforts, early identification and intervention, support for victims and
treatment for abusers. Victim advocates are available to respond quickly, 24
hours a day, 7 days a week to help individuals and families who are victims of
domestic violence or sexual assault.
Family Advocacy professionals are
also available to assist commanders and other leaders with various trainings,
briefings, and workshops to aid in the early detection of stressors so they can
be resolved before they become personal or family problems.
Clinicians
are licensed therapist, also trained to provide clinical counseling services to
individuals and families with a variety of emotional challenges. Some
examples would be helping individuals and families cope with depression and
loss, resolving issues in marriage, developing conflict resolution skills, and
discussing parenting issues.
