Here are some tips for those servicemembers traveling unaccompanied.

*Learn as much about the area as possible - visit the new area if possible.

*Get information from your current Family Service Center, your new location's Chamber of Commerce, and libraries.

*Open a new checking account while you visit so the checks are ready when you arrive.

*Check out the cost/availability of car insurance in your new area.

*Find out how/where to get new driver's license and voter's registration.

*Get maps of the new city so you will be familiar with major streets, highways, etc.

*Drop off a change of address so your mail will follow you.

*Arrange for your personal belongings - stero's, TV's, computer's - to be moved by setting up an appointment with your Personal Property Office at your current duty station.

*Request a sponsor at your new duty station.

*Single service members and geographic bachelors seeking on-base quarters must check in at the Combined Bachelor Quarters (CBQ) office in Building H-23.
