Family Advocacy rotates offering a Parenting Class with our Family Support Center.

While Family Support Center offers the "Love and Logic" course, the Family Advocacy offers the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) course.

The STEP parenting course is focus toward Young Children under the age of six.  However, parents with older children can also benefit from the course.  We also can focus the course toward Teenagers if the need exists.  The STEP parenting emphasizes understanding, communication and self esteem building as well as teaching cooperation and social and emotional development of the child.  Reflective listening and I-messages techniques are demonstrated and practiced.  The concept of Logical consequences is presented and the uniqueness of each child is stressed.
