SHOPPING
San Diego has many wonderful shopping centers and outlet malls, here are just a few:

Shopping Centers
Fashion Valley - Located off I-8 between I-5 and I-805.  Outdoor shopping center featuring 200 stores and restaurants including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy's, Robinsons-May, JCPenney, Saks, Tiffany's, Cheesecake Factory, and an 18 screen theater.  

Mission Valley Shopping Center - Located off I-8 between I-5 and I-805.  With major stores like Old Navy, Macy's Home and Nordstrom Rack, as well as a 20 screen mega-theater, this sprawling string of shops and mega shops helps you get it together, whether it's an all-day or lunchtime affair.  .

University Town Center - Located in La Jolla off I-5 and La Jolla Village Drive.  An outdoor park-like setting of 155 upscale specialty and department stores.  Also has an Olympic-size skating rink and more than 20 eateries.  .

Horton Plaza - Located in Downtown San Diego.  Seven city blocks of shopping, dining and entertainment on multiple levels.  More than 140 stores; Nordstrom, Macy's and 14-screen movie theater.  

North County Fair - Off I-15 in Escondido, this mall is huge and has all the trappings.  Shops such as Nordstrom, Ann Taylor, Macy's and JCPenney.  

Parkway Plaza - Located in El Cajon, this was the county's first indoor mall.  With JCPenney, Limited Too and Sam Goody as its mainstays, Parkway Plaza is light on major department stores but heavy on specialty shops and a movie theater.  

Plaza Bonita - Located in National City off I-805 - Indoor Mall with 140 specialty stores including JCPenney, Mervyn's and Robinsons May.  

Outlet Stores
Viejas Outlet Center - Off I-8 east of El Cajon.  Savings up to 70 percent on already reduced prices at 57 of America's favorite manufacturers in a unique environment.  Free nightly entertainment and Viejas Concerts In The Park.

Las Americas - Located off I-805 and the U.S./Mexican Border - at the last U.S. Exit.  Blending of two cultures at the border with shopping at 70 stores.  Famous brands at great prices.

Carlsbad Company Stores - Located in Carlsbad off I-5.  Featuring more than 90 designer and manufacturer outlets, specialty retail, winery and restaurants.

FOOD
The following major grocery stores are located in San Diego County: Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons, Stater Brothers and Food for Less.  

We have three warehouse stores offering bulk items at reduced prices, Costco, Sam's Club and Smart and Final.  

We also have a few shopping alternatives such as Trader Joe's, which offers gourmet food items and boutique domestic and imported wines, Whole Foods who claim to be the world's largest retailer of natural and organic foods and Henry's Marketplace which offers farm-fresh produce, all-natural food, and vitamins and supplements.  

SALES TAX:  California has a 7.75% sales tax on all items except necessities.
