The Family Advocacy Program is a mandated Department of the Army
program, designed to help families break the generational cycle of spouse and
child abuse by stressing the importance of identifying and reporting abuse as
early as possible and providing treatment services for affected family members.
the following is offered:
Information/Education in all areas of family
stressors, whether on or off the job, to soldiers and family members. PBA is a
small post with a "small-town" atmosphere, we pride ourselves in going the extra
mile in working closely with soldiers and their families.
FAPM has
established a working relationship with local resources: Parents As Teachers
program, Home Instruction Program for Pre-school Youngsters(HIPPY),
therapists/counselors in local mental health facilities and
schools.
Primary referral resources include a local shelter for
women/children victims of domestic violence and a close network with the
Arkansas Dept. of Human Services.
PBA Commander endorses
military-specific services, therefore the primary referral source for sponsors
and their families is Little Rock Air Force Base (approximately 50 mi) for
mental health and other needs, though we do have an MOA with local mental
health.
The FAP can be accessed simply by calling for an appointment or
information.
