VEHICLE REGISTRATION: To register your vehicle, you will need proof of current registration and insurance, proof of Colorado emissions or emission exempt paperwork/sticker (if NOT registered in Colorado), a valid driver's license, and a civilian employee or military identification card. Newcomers and individuals stationed at Peterson AFB should be advised they are required to register their vehicle within 72 hours of their arrival (PCS) to Peterson AFB or after purchasing a new or used vehicle.
Vehicles are registered at the Visitor Center in Bldg. 1820, next to the north gate, off of Highway 24 and Peterson Road exiting off on the Peterson AFB exit. The Visitor Center's hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The speed limit is 30 mph unless otherwise posted. RADAR operates on base, and speed limits are strictly enforced.
Vehicle Accidents: Major accidents (disabling injury, damage to a government vehicle, damage over $10,000 or someone driving under the influence of alcohol) must be reported to the Security Police immediately. Minor accidents must be reported in a timely manner. If an accident is not reported to a law enforcement agency, insurance may not pay. Minor vehicle accidents on Peterson AFB require vehicle accident reports and a detailed blotter entry. This is accepted as proof. To report an accident, call 556-4000.
