PICK UP LOCATIONS:
To pick up your POV, you must have a
documented DD Form 788, military ID, or power of attorney from service member.
Call Hawaii VPC at 848-8383 for pick up locations.
When issued the Form
DD788, DO NOT DESTROY! This form is required for car
registration. Time limits are 7 calendar days with Pass & ID
Office and 10 calendar days with State of Hawai'i. No-Fault Insurance is
required by the State of Hawaii. If caught driving without insurance, the first
offense is a $1,000 fine. The second offense is a $3,000
fine. See FINANCIAL PREPAREDNESS for insurance rates.Contact the
Personal Property Office located at Bldg 487, FISC Pearl Harbor to make
arrangement for your POV shipment. The entitlement to ship a POV is limited to
PCS to, from or between places overseas; or upon official change of homeport of
a vessel to which you are assigned.
Only one POV owned or leased by you
or your dependent and for your personal use may be shipped to your new duty
station at government expense. Call the Personal Property Office for more
detailed information about shipping procedures.
SHIPPING A SECOND
POV: You will not be authorized to ship a second vehicle at the
expense of the government. However, the Navy has a program called
"Opportune Lift" that may allow you to ship a second vehicle at low or no cost.
