Each of the three counties has a branch of the State Employment
Security Division, which is the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations
(DLLR). A computer program known as the AJB (America's Job Bank) is
located at each job service site. AJB job opportunities are stored in
an easy to understand database. Identify the types of employment
desired by job title, occupational code, or military specialty. AJB
provides a print-out of customized listings as selected in your
category. Self-service Resource Centers are located in Leonardtown,
St. Mary's County and Prince Frederick, Calvert County. The Resource
Centers offer personal computers with Microsoft Word software and a laser
printer for resume and cover letter preparation, books and other resource
materials that will help you with your job search, information on
jobs for the future, community resource information, and much
more.
Numerous websites are available for companies in the
area. Listings of these sites may be obtained through the Fleet and
Family Support Center, the Maryland Job Service, Patuxent River Office of Human
Resources and the local libraries.
Job opportunities in the local area
are advertised in the Southern Maryland Classified section which is available on
Wednesdays and Fridays through the Enterprise, a local newspaper; the Tester,
the base newspaper, as well as in other Baltimore and Washington Metro
newspapers.
