Teens can get information on the paperwork necessary to work part-time from their guidance counselors.
There are many employment opportunities within the area due to the many fast food restaurants, malls, stores and hotels. The Youth Center is a state-of-art facility with a theatre and air-conditioned gym. The Youth Center offers the School Age Child Care Program, opening at 0630 in the morning for parents convenience.
Sports such as baseball, soccer, football, tots tee-ball, girl's softball, and cheerleading are all offered at the Youth Center. Some sports programs may occasionally have a waiting list. Teenagers will find the typical social environment at Patrick AFB and the surrounding area. Pluses include: Beach activities, access to Orlando professional sports, entertainment, and attractions.
The Montreal Expos are the newest tenants of our Space Coast Stadium and the Carl Barger Complex in Viera. The Expos break camp at the end of March, but baseball will continue through the summer. The Brevard County Manatees, who play in the advanced A-Florida State League, start their season in April.
Baseball, softball: District 2 Little League - the governing body for Little League baseball and softball in Brevard County - consists of 27 individual leagues from Mims to the South Beaches. Opening day for most leagues takes place in late February or early March, and play does not end until the last of the All Star tournaments in July and August.
Police Athletic Leagues: Groups established throughout Brevard focus on several sporting events, including basketball and football.
Pop Warner Youth Football and Cheerleading: The South Brevard Cougars are part of the Pop Warner Youth Football and Cheerleading Association, a national organization that has been providing sports and scholastic opportunities for more than 70 years.
Soccer: The Brevard Youth Soccer League is made up of 18 clubs throughout Brevard and Indian River counties. The league attracts children from kindergarten to high school. Traditionally, a little more than 11,000 athletes participate in these clubs.
Cocoa Expo is continuing its reputation as a training ground for professional and amateur soccer players. Major League Soccer exhibition matches have become a spring feature. In April, the Cocoa Expos begin play in the Premier Developmental League in the United Soccer Leagues. The PDL is the fourth grouping of amateur and professional soccer in the United States. Players who hope to play in MLS can play professionally in the A-League. Amateur and professional players also compete in the Division 3 group.
Space Coast Rockets: Girls 14 and older fast-pitch softball team includes players from Brevard County. The team travels to tournaments around Florida throughout the year.
The Brevard County Parks and Recreation hold different sporting events and competitions throughout the summer months.
Patrick does not have any other youth program but those sponsored by the PAFB Youth Center.
