The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is designed to
provide procedures that ensure Marine Corps families with special needs are
assigned to locations where special medical and special education support is
available. Assessment of special needs is accomplished by the Marine
Corps Community Service Center EFMP Coordinator in conjunction with medical
personnel. The completed case is evaluated by the East Coast, West
Coast, or Japan Central Screening Committee, and forwarded to the Headquarters
Marine Corps EFMP Manager with a recommendation for enrollment. Upon
receipt of orders, the EFM sponsor contacts the Officer or Enlisted Assignment
Branch at HQMC to communicate the latest case information.
Enrollment in
the EFMP is mandatory for Marines who have a family member requiring special
medical and/or special education services. mandatory enrollment is
required to ensure consideration is given to assigning Marines to locations
which accomodate their family needs.
The EFMP Office is located in
Building 17, MCRD Parris Island and Building 707, MCAS-Beaufort.
